Актуальность. В изучении истории Байкальской Сибири первой четверти XX века особенного подхода при анализе требуют источники периодической печати. Газета «Иркутские губернские ведомости» в первой четверти XX века являлась центральным, официальным источником для получения информации о принятии новых законов, проведении мероприятий и о результатах обсуждения разных вопросов. Она отражает события, которые значительно влияли на городское общество, раскрывает историю приобщения жителей Байкальской Сибири к художественной жизни Запада в первой четверти XX века. Цель работы заключается в том, чтобы на основе газеты «Иркутские губернские ведомости» представить историю приобщения городского общества Байкальской Сибири к художественной жизни Запада в первой четверти XX века. Задачами данной работы являются: анализ статей газеты «Иркутские губернские ведомости»; определение ценностных ориентиров городского общества в художественной жизни. Методология. В процессе исследования использовались общие исторические методы: историко-сравнительный, историко-системный, проблемно-хронологический. Исследование руководствуется принципом историзма. Результаты. В исследовании по материалам газеты «Иркутские губернские ведомости» представлена история приобщения городского общества Байкальской Сибири к художественной жизни Запада в первой четверти XX века. Статья показала, что через официальные источники периодической печати возможно проследить изменения общественного мнения, ценностных ориентиров, представлений жителей Байкальской Сибири о Западе. Выводы. Газета «Иркутские губернские ведомости» представила особенности развития общественного мнения городского общества Байкальской Сибири о художественной жизни Запада в первой четверти XX века. Официальные источники периодической печати, которые представляли интересы губернской власти и выражали мнения жителей, показывали то, что горожане активно интересовались художественной жизнью центра Российской империи и Европы, посещали выставки, пополняли свои коллекции, приобретали предметы искусства для интерьера своих домов, рассказывали другим о творчестве мастеров.

Relevance. In the study of the history of Baikal Siberia in the first quarter of the XX century. Sources of periodicals require a special approach in the analysis. The Irkutsk Gubernskiye Vedomosti newspaper in the first quarter of the 20th century was a central, official source for obtaining information on the adoption of new laws, events and the results of discussions on various issues. It reflects events that significantly influenced the urban society, reveals the history of the introduction of the inhabitants of Baikal Siberia to the artistic life of the West in the first quarter of the XX century. The purpose of the work is to present the history of the introduction of the urban society of Baikal Siberia to the artistic life of the West in the first quarter of the XX century on the basis of the newspaper "Irkutsk Gubernskiye Vedomosti". The objectives of this work are: analysis of articles of the newspaper "Irkutsk gubernskie vedomosti"; determination of value orientations of urban society in artistic life. Methodology. In the course of the research, general historical methods were used: historical-comparative, historical-system, problem-chronological. The research is guided by the principle of historicism. Results. The study based on the materials of the newspaper "Irkutsk Gubernskiye Vedomosti" presents the history of the introduction of the urban society of Baikal Siberia to the artistic life of the West in the first quarter of the XX century. The article showed that through official sources of periodicals it is possible to trace changes in public opinion, values, ideas of the inhabitants of Baikal Siberia about the west. Conclusions. The Irkutsk Gubernskiye Vedomosti newspaper presented the features of the development of public opinion of the urban society of Baikal Siberia about the artistic life of the West in the first quarter of the XX century. Official sources of the periodicals, which represented the interests of the provincial authorities and expressed the opinions of the residents, showed that the townspeople were actively interested in the artistic life of the center of the Russian Empire and Europe, visited exhibitions, replenished their collections, purchased art objects for the interior of their houses, told others about the work of the masters.
